Pet Loss Sites

It was quite by chance, I came across

a place where sorrow lives,

Where others who have borne the same

some comfort, try to give.

I never ever realized

as the world goes by,

that there’s a very special place

where loved ones never die.

Here they’re not forgotten,

here there is no haste,

loved ones who’ve departed

appear and show their face.

A vision, Oh, how longed for

a moment froze in time,

An angel who was captured there

before their steep decline.

If I could turn the clock back

and step into that frame,

It’s what my heart now yearns for

to walk that country lane.

To hold you tight, throughout

the night, to run through waves and surf

to kiss you as you bound to me,

Instead of now this curse.

Tears fall upon the paper

that holds your timeless face;

You’ll age no more, forever

frozen, now encased.

So many, many faithful friends

unwillingly have gone;

and silently I face the night

and another lonely dawn.
